Description
Walker and Wood is a family-run custom woodworking business founded by Derek Walker. Focused on creating modern, beautiful, and functional pieces for their wide array of clients, it felt critical to create a mark that was simple, modern, and invoked elements of classic woodworking in a contemporary way.
The logo itself needed to function well on two levels- Full color for merchandise to boost Walker + Wood's profile locally as well as within the woodworking community itself, and One Color when burned onto Derek's projects with a custom branding iron.
The primary roundel features some representational woodworking tools like the nails & the hammer, while the outer ring utilizes repeating lines to evoke craftsmanship and precision in a more abstract way. The plus symbols help the roundel read as "Walker + Wood" and resemble Phillips head screws.
As my first professional branding project ever, this project holds a special place in my heart. Derek has really embraced the logo and it has been very rewarding to see it come to life in so many different mediums as Walker + Wood has grown.
